THE THREE “I AM’s OF PAUL
ROMANS, CHAPTER 1, VERSES 14-16
14: I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
15: So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17: For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
THE THREE “I AM’S OF PAUL”
Review “I AM” the I Am that I Am.
1. I AM A DEBTOR.
· to the whole world.
· to give himself
· no way to repay what God has done: we can never forget. Rom 5:19
· to the educated and the uneducated, to the sophisticated to the simple
· if you follow law, you are in debt to whole law, Gal 5:3 if you follow after works, your result is debt, not grace.
· Salvation on credit. Sin Jubilee. Someone who owes, forgiven. Where sin abounds…..the more credit the devil offers, the more grace GOD provides.
2. I AM READY being prepared for action, responsiveness, fitness
· faith cometh by hearing
· not everyone is ready to witness
· clean vessel, not just chosen
· ready in the sense of prepared, inside and out
· here I am, Lord, send me.
3. I AM NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL.
4. Adam and Eve were not ashamed.
· God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.
· World wants us to be ashamed of taking a stand.
· It is the power of God
· God is not ashamed to be called our God. Heb 11:16
· ..ashamed of Jesus Mk 8:38
· let none that wait on God be ashamed Ps 25:3
· name of Satan, the dung-god
